Stand Together - First meeting 2/15/12

The Nation Discussion Group has created a new umbrella coalition, Stand Together, in order to further our common goals and create a progressive platform, with planks from each group, and to present it to Democratic candidates this spring.  Representatives from many organizations met at Selby Library in Sarasota on February 15 to speak about their goals.  A few photos are below.

Joe Newman, above, closed the meeting.

Terry moderated for us.

See you downtown today!

Today is January 5, 2012 and we'll be meeting as usual upstairs at the downtown Sarasota Selby library on the second floor.  All are welcome.  In addition to discussing the issues of the day, we'll hear reports of our efforts to form alliances with other local progressive groups.

Joe, Sandy, Terry and Tom with Bob Connor and John Welsh on the Peace and Justice Show WSLR 12/6/11

Today we were guests of the Peace and Justice Show on WSLR.  We discussed economics, Occupy Now and other current issues.  Thanks to Bob and John for having us on!  The second half hour we interacted with Matt Rothschild, Editor of The Progressive via a phone call.

December meeting is Thursday, December 1.

Join us at the downtown Sarasota library (upstairs) at 10:00am for our monthly discussion meeting.  Maybe we can get Joe Newman to repeat his well-received speech which he gave at the Manatee Democratic Party headquarters November 28th.  He got a standing ovation.

There is no fee to attend our meetings, and all are welcome.

Keith Fitzgerald to speak November 3rd.

Candidate for U.S. Congress Fitzgerald will be at the Sarasota downtown library Thursday morning 11/3/11 to talk to our group.  Meeting starts at 10:10.  All are welcome!
